There has been outrage in little rock Arkansas when a racist incident prompted a black family to consider moving because of Santa Claus
This was because Kennedy’s whose home in Little Rock Arkansas in the subdivision of Lakewood received a letter signed by Santa detailing why they should not have a black Santa Claus.
The letter read: “please remove your Negro Santa Claus yard decoration, you should not try to deceive children into believing that I am a Negro. I am a Caucasian white man to you.”
In history, Santa Claus stretches all the way back to the 3rd century when a monk Saint Nicholas walked the earth some hundreds of years ago. It is believed that Nicholas was born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Much admired for his piety and kindness, St. Nicholas became the subject of many legends. It is said that he gave away all his inherited wealth and traveled the countryside helping the poor and sick.
In a report by CBS Weekend, Chris Kennedy said that he was concerned for his wife and daughter because he started to question his actions if he was doing something wrong by putting a black Santa Claus in their yard. Despite this, they have received enormous support from their predominantly white neighborhood as others have also in solidarity set up black Santa Clauses in their yards.
