In a new video first lady, Michelle Obama in her closing argument does not hold back while brutally criticizing the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.
In her call, Michelle recapitulated the fears black people in the U.S face every day while appealing to voters to defend the change that will go beyond generations and enthuse the American values on young people.
“I want everyone who is still undecided, like all those folks like me and my ancestors, the mums and dad’s who work their fingers to the bone to raise their kids right, the teenagers who wear hoodies while working hard to get their diplomas, the millions of folks who look like me and fought and died and toiled as slaves and soldiers and laborers to help build this country.” She said.
This is not the first time the former first lady of the U.S has lent her voice in support of the Democratic party nominee Joe Biden. She had earlier in August clearly said that Donald Trump is the wrong President for the United States of America.
She urged voters to put themselves in black people’s shoes for just a moment, and imagine how it felt to have suspicion cast on them from the day they were born simply because of the hue of their skin – to walk around their own country scared that someone’s unjustified fear of them could put them in harm’s way. While also inviting them to imagine how it felt to wake up every day doing the very best to uphold the so-called values that the United States of America claims to hold dear – truth, honor, decency – only to have that effort met by scorn and not just by fellow Americans, but by a sitting president.
“Living with the knowledge that no matter how hard we try, how much good we do
in the world, there will be far too many who will never see our humanity, who
will project on us their own fears of retribution for centuries of injustice
and thus, only see us as a threat to be restrained.” She said.
This is coming after President Trump revealed early Friday morning that he and the first lady, Melania Trump, had tested positive for the Coronavirus.
Michelle also in her closing the argument did not fail to highlight the prospective impact of another four years of Donald Trump in the White house.
“And we know what happens next. A racial slur from a passing car, a job promotion that never comes, a routine traffic stop gone wrong, maybe a knee to the neck. Racism, fear, division – these are powerful weapons, and they can destroy this nation if we don’t deal with them head-on.” She said.
