Aforfem Ngozi Afobunor

Ms. Afobunor is a Results-oriented Communications Strategist talented at public speaking and presentation development. She Offers deep media contacts and extensive experience with investor relations. She holds a Master of Science degree in Marketing from The University of Lagos, Akoka, and is a Chartered Marketer. Her experience of having been raised in a patriarchal society shaped her values, and as a woman who upholds feminist values and holds the social marketing school of thought with the highest regards, she is very impassioned about social inclusion and justice.

Since the age of 14, being a member of the literary and debate society of St. Savior’s High school Lagos she has since stood up for and spoke against the injustices in her local community in Lagos Nigeria. For more than a decade Aforfem has advocated for the rights of women and girls by providing non-profit organizations communications and solutions that are creating a culture shift in Nigeria.

Aforfem had a three years radio career with Rainbow 94.1 FM in Ogun state Nigeria, highlighting the social and health challenges faced by Nigerian women and children while providing them access to social interventions, adequate information, and solutions. Her impact was felt by many across the globe and she was one of the select few journalists from Nigeria who was invited to the maiden edition of Merck More than a Mother media merit awards held in Nairobi Kenya in 2018, she was also an accredited media for the Women Deliver Conference 2019, which was held in Vancouver, Canada.

Aforfem believes that it has become expedient for the media to take a deeper look into the gender-power imbalance in households and to create a platform whereby conversations can be stimulated to bring about social change through bridging the information gap with the public. As part of her contribution to the #ENDSARS Movement, she sat with One TV Africa to report the experiences faced by young people in Nigeria. As a Visionaire, her purpose is to achieve Goal 5 of the sustainable development goals through her platforms thereby accelerating progress for women and girls in Nigeria.

She is an Associate Member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, a Merck Foundation Alumni Germany, A member of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and a Doctoral Student at the University of Lagos.
